shiga-like toxins
Group of structurally-related toxins that block eukaryotic protein synthesis by cleaving a single residue from the 28S rRNA subunit of ribosomes thus blocking interaction with elongation factors eEF-1 and eEF-2. Examples: Shiga toxin, Shiga-like toxins SLT-1 and SLT-2 of Escherichia coli.
